Epicentre was 150 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (population 187,000) where strong shaking was experienced. No reports of damage or casualties have been recieved at this time, however a tsunami threat has been issued for Kamchatka. The main shock was followed by aftershocks of magnitude 6.7 (18 minutes later) and 6.6 (33 minutes later).
